eat mendoan in alun-alun's corner

mendoan is a traditional food in purbalingga and purwokerto (part of barlingmascakeb).....it made from soybean that fermetated with special yeast here...i dont know why this food have diffrent taste if made by outside maker.....mendoan was originally from this area (banyumas/purwokerto-purbalingga-cilacap-banjarnegara.....


mendoan made from soybean that fermentated with yeast,...after some day and the soybean not visible (covered by yeast that grown)...ya, it keep in the warm condition...if it touch by many water..it will rot.....here we called it tempe bosok....

mendoan was actually kind of tempe, but it larger and have square shape...and flat...i dont know sure but kind of soybean and yeast probably diffrent with tempe.

after finished the fermentation....then this raw food have to be fried.
here is some stuff needed to create delicious mendoan....raw mendoan, flour, water and some scallion...then mixed with other ingredients....sometime to make intricate mendoan some of them  put them on the edge of the pan...

mendoan served with some soy and cayenne pepper.....

one day we came to purbalingga's alun-alun and eat mendoan in the corner....in front of state junior high1 purbalingga.....(pak Jasman stall...manunggal)
some of stuff there beside mendoan is lontong (rice cake ....wrapped with banana leaves).....wait the seller fries mendoan untill finised,....oops i ate about 2 mendoan and lontong in a plate......and my stomach feel full.....
with spicy ketchup it so delicious...and i dont feel oily in my face and hands (usually mendoan cause an oily hands)......ya, purbalingga's people if seen this kind of food everywhere just like see rare food ..and they always love to eate it whatever.....
